Begin the new academic year by joining a choir!
The Music Ministry of First Presbyterian Church supports the worship of Almighty God and provides opportunities for individuals to offer their gifts and talents in praise. There is a singing or ringing choir for nearly everyone!
Choirs and Rehearsal Schedules:
Children’s Handbells (grades 4 - 7) – Bell Room
Wednesdays, beginning Oct. 13 - 5:00 p.m.
Children’s Choir (grades 1 - 5) – Choir Room
Wednesdays, beginning Oct. 13 - 5:45 p.m.
Youth Choir (grades 6-12)
Wednesdays, beginning Oct. 13 - 6:30 pm
Chancel Choir (adult) – Choir Room
Tuesdays, beginning Aug. 31 – 6:00 p.m.
Angelus Bells (MS, HS, College, Adult) – Bell Room

September. 26, 2010 - 6:00 pm - David Stevens: Great American Song Book
David Stevens and a swinging quartet of Texas’ finest musicians will present a program from the richest era of songwriting that America has ever seen. Favorites and surprises from Irving Berlin, George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Rodgers and Hart, Duke Ellington, and many more. The program will include “Embraceable You,” “Solitude,” “I've Got My Love to Keep Me Warm,” and “Night and Day.”

Can you imagine a full orchestra playing in your living room? Or two lovers flirting in a symphony hall? It's a little bit of both that you get from world renowned fingerstyle guitarist Richard Smith and his wife, versatile cellist Julie Adams – and they serve so much more, from Bach to The Beatles

For the third year in a row, this concert provides local musicians the chance to play the chamber works they’ve dreamed about. These concerts have been acclaimed by players and audience alike. This year’s performers include soloists Javier Chaparro, John McSpadden, Jill Stewart, Eric Miller, Penny Zent, Marianne Henry and more.
March 27, 2011 - 6:00 pm - Sonatapotamus!
Pianist Bob Leslie and the talented members of the Marian Anderson String Quartet will each perform a favorite sonata movement, then all five will collaborate on the stunning Schumann Eb Piano Quintet.
April 3, 2011 - 6:00 pm - Die schöne Müllerin
Tenor Chris Hoffman and pianist Gale Worthy will collaborate on Franz Schubert’s mesmerizing song cycle about the beauty of young love.
July 3, 2011 - 7:30 pm - La Follia Austin Baroque
In an innovative programming move, La Follia sails across the ocean to explore the music of Colonial America. Concerts on Carter Creek expands its season into the summer to bring you an Independence Day treat, as early American music is brought to life on period instruments.
All concerts are free and open to the public. Freewill offerings are received.
